Writing Contest: Nou led, Nou la

Write a 500 word theme based on the recent earthquake in Haiti and the proverb, “Nou led, Nou la [We are ugly, but we are alive].” Explain what the proverb means to you and/or the Haitian people.

Guidelines

1. Contest open only to currently registered MDC students. Include your name, student number, and the name of your instructor.
2. All entries deemed publishable by the adjudicators will be posted on this site.
3. The writers of the top three entries will be invited to read at Asili All Stars Relief for Haiti on Friday, January 22, 2010 @ 6.00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Room 2147, Miami Dade College, North Campus.
4. Entries close at midnight January 19, 2010. Winners will be notified by e-mail.
5. Entries MUST be e-mailed to haiti.relief.mdc@gmail.com with the subject line: Nou led, Nou la.
